Creative Juices

July 21, 2008

Lots of my work friends do creative things outside of work. At one point I did too. I took ceramic classes at the local community college and loved it, and made a friend in the process. But life gets busy and sometimes you have to cut out the extra- curricular activities to focus on job/family etc…. My co-workers and I are discussing  the possibility of starting a stitch and bitch when the weather isn’t so beautiful. I don’t know if I want to wait that long. I am throwing around the idea of taking a painting class. I used to be a pretty good painter- but that was a long time ago.  I think I’m going to do it. It’s just hard to give up a whole Saturday for 16 weeks.

I hope I’m still a pretty good painter or I’ll have 16 crappy Saturdays.

Hellboy

Tooth Fairy from Hellboy 2

Tooth Fairy from Hellboy 2

The hubby and I went to go see Hellboy 2 Saturday night. I have to say that the creatures in the movie far exceeded my expectations. Guillermo Del Toro is incredible. Go see the movie just for the special  effects. The line where make up ends and CGI begins is absolutely undetectible.  My favorites were the Tooth Fairies.

Dolls

July 1, 2008

Since I can remember I have been fascinated by dolls, I got my first Barbie when I was 3. I’m still entranced. My husband bought a magazine for me yesterday called Haute Doll. It has some of the most unbelievable creations I’ve ever seen. I’m not sure how these dolls are created but they are absolutely extraordinary. I attempted to make a doll- she was pretty successfull for a first try even thought she cracked apart. I would still love to pursue the doll making.

I came across this doll maker about 6 months ago while working on another project:

The Siren

Her work is the most compelling I’ve seen. Maybe I can talk the hubby into buying one!
